BLACK MAN
Black man so beautiful to me
Deeply rooted
In the rich soil of African land
Tall reaching the sky like trees
Dark and powerful
Carved out of mahogany
With the strength of tribes
Free to be
Black man
You are a gift to me

It's nice to see a little love thrown the brother's way err now and then.
That was nice. Sometimes I wish I had a better connection to my African ancestry. I know it's there, but being in America sometimes gives cause for disconnect. I want it to be more real that what I've witnessed on television.
yea, i loved this when u shared it w/ us over at the CapCha'd spot, Sis!
Rich - u're more connected than u know. As i've heard it said: Africans are coming to U.S. now to benefit from & witness the work that their ancestors did, too;-). u're in the chain/connected whether u're aware or not!
I Love IT!
yes indeed!
i love me a black man
dark, dark chocolate!
beautiful:)
Thanks everyone. I wrote that after my "man-eater" stage broke. LOL. I was hurt, angry and bitter. So I had walls up and I was putting the brothas through it.
Then my college mate who I had a crush on inspired me to write this. He was a gentleman and helped me see there were still some good brothers who cared out there.
The poem is over 10 years yet I still struggle with my issues with men.
@Rich: The ancestors are in your DNA and you are them. Your actions connect you to them. Think about it.
I love it too! WE can help but love the Black Man! Great piece Shai!
Wow! that's hot!
Nice.
I love this poem! Funny, as I was reading, my mind immediately went to an image of Djimon Honsou, the actor from Amistad, Blood Diamond, Janet Jackson video Love Will Never Do, and a broad smile comes across my face!
Wonderful Shai...
Blessings,
angelia
