A Fifth Of Slumber

Muse
swimming in drink
Muse
It's never what you think
I thought we would meet at the same bar as before
But apparently your travels don't end there anymore

Muse
I am flailing
Muse
I am ailing
Tell me what to do to meet again in dreams
I seek you out and sanity leaves me in streams

Muse
This chokes me
Muse
You scold me
Bloody bliss comes from this steady shunning
I increase my capacity, my tolerance, stunning

Muse
You liar
Muse
I tire
My eccentricities were unintended bait
You will stride away in disgust and hate

Muse
I tear
Muse
I fear
I have run and run from the truth of your power
At night I cant sleep and in your shadow I cower

I think my muse is stuck in traffic on I-5 South just below San Francisco right now...and that's a long drive back to me! Great poem!

loves it! the relationship between a creative soul and his/her muse is both turbulent and blissful. wonderfully rendered here.

So good it's like music!

As I read this I actually heard the following lyric playing in my head:

You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore.
Just a vacancy
Love don't live here anymore.

Ain't it a bitch how much the relationship with these damned muses mimic romantic ones? ;)

Thankfully for me, finding all of the contributors here and this wonderful blog seems to have made my always elusive muse nostalgic for what we shared in the past!
