It happens to other people
You say how sad
You say poor thing
But when it's you
It's something else,
It's everything.
It started with something minor,
went from there to something worse
The friends you loved
The thoughts you knew
Just disappeared
Felt so weird
Half blessing
Half cursed
It happens to other people
You say how sad
You say poor thing
But when it's you
It's something else,
It's everything.
It started with something minor,
went from there to something worse
The friends you loved
The thoughts you knew
Just disappeared
Felt so weird
Half blessing
Half cursed
It happens to other people
You say how sad
You say poor thing
Here's to April -> SAAM. This poem is about rape.
Sparkle,
ReplyDeleteThank you for raising your very fine poetic voice to this cause. It means so much to me and others who are working to raise awareness.
Thank you! Using your talent in this way means more to us than you can imagine.

Oh how sad!
ReplyDeleteI pray we don't fall victim to rapists. Something has to be done because the issue is very rampant.
beautiful...
ReplyDeleteand yes, it could happen..
Perfect piece.
ReplyDeleteRape is nobody's home.
Excellent!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Yes,
ReplyDeletewe must remember that we are we. Nice.
Yes, so very sad, and although with very few phrases the overall meaning was delivered and truly felt. Rape is undeniably wrong in every since,
ReplyDeleteDegrassi. I love that episode.
ReplyDeleteThis is very true. It's so much bigger when it happens to you. I praise God that it never happened to me, only close. And no one really understands that even when the act is just attempted, there is a lot of mental anguish. To even come close is an experience that will stay with you. Whats really sad is when this happens there is more than one victim. The families that have to endure and help cope. This subject touches on my "OVER SEXED UNDER AGED" blog. Sometimes this is the exact cause for promiscuity in our teens! Sure you can add me. I'm new to the site so I don't know how to add you! help!! lol
ReplyDeletenow that was food for thought
ReplyDeletecareful, it's usually done by someone you know...
ReplyDeleteWow, how poignant, sad and beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteblessings,
